Defective Drywall Found in Thousands of Florida Homes More and more homeowners are finding that the Chinese brand of drywall that was installed in their houses between 2004 and 2006 is defective. Hundreds, to date, have complained about the problem, and some experts say that besides the obvious annoyance that it causes these homeowners, there is also some health risks involved with the defect.
The drywall is characterized by a strong sulfurous smell, much like rotten eggs. Copper wires, air conditioning coils and other metals also easily corrode. The gases that these metals put off as they corrode can be a very serious health threat. Homeowners have reported respiratory problems, irritated eyes, frequent headaches and nose bleeds.
Lawyers across the state are now trying to get money from the manufacturers and contractors of the drywall, not only to replace the defective product in homes, but also to file personal injury lawsuits. These Chinese manufacturers are responsible for the safety of their product. When consumers are injured or get sick because of it, the responsibility of covering medical expenses, replacing lost wages and also paying some reparations for suffering falls on the shoulders of the manufacturer as well.
If you or someone you know has a home that was built between 2004 and 2006 in Florida, then you may be at risk. If you notice the smell of rotting eggs of experience any of the medical symptoms described above, contact a personal injury lawyer at Porter and Korvick right away. We are here to help you get the money you deserve.
