Girl Sues Disney for Tower of Terror Induced Heart Attack A 19-year-old girl and her mother are currently suing Orlando's Walt Disney World. In July of 2005, the girl rode the popular “Tower of Terror” ride. Soon after she got off of the ride, she suffered a brain hemorrhage after her heart stopped momentarily. The girl says that Disney did not alert tourists and riders of the potential risks and safety precautions. The girl claims that her heart condition was brought on by the high speed and sudden drops of the ride.
The plaintiffs are also questioning the design and operation of the amusement park ride, which they considered to be unnecessarily dangerous. Rides at Disney World and other thrill parks are inherently dangerous. However, it is the practice of most to warn their riders about the possible dangers of each ride, to avoid any accident liability.
Usually, a theme park will post signs or instruct their ride operators to make an announcement about the potential risks associated with each amusement. Some directly warn their patrons to stay away from the rides if they are pregnant or have existing heart conditions. When a park fails to do this, it may be held responsible for any accidents that occur on its property.
Each year, hundreds of people are injured and even killed on theme park rides. If this happens to someone that you know, tell them to call the lawyers at Porter and Kovick. We have years of professional experience in personal injury cases, and will work to get you the money that you deserve to cover medical expenses, lost wages and personal suffering.
