Truck Driver Causes Accident in Pensacola, Florida Earlier this month, a truck driver, towing 6,500 gallons of oil caused his rig to tip over and land on its side in the median of Interstate 10 in Pensacola, Florida. Fortunately, none of the oil leaked into the road, but about 75 gallons of diesel fuel did manage to escape from the truck's tank.
The accident occurred when the driver decided to switch lanes and did not fully check to make sure that his path was clear. When he merged, he sideswiped a Saturn. The force from this collision caused the truck to roll over onto its side. The driver suffered from minor injuries, and was taken to West Florida Hospital. No one in the Saturn was hurt, but the car sustained some damages.
Because the driver was careless when he attempted to change lanes, he may be held responsible for the cleanup of the fuel spill and the necessary repairs to the Saturn. Insurance offered by his trucking company may pay for the all or most of the damages. If not, the driver may be taken to court and sued for his reckless behavior. Had the passengers in the car been injured, however, the penalties may have been much worse.
If you or a loved one has been hurt in an accident involving the carelessness of a tractor trailer or semi truck operator, you should seek professional legal assistance. The truck accident attorneys at Porter and Korvick can make sure that you get the money that you deserve and see that haphazard drivers pay consequences for their actions. Give us a call, today!
